Aldric Kensington’s Pov.
It was chaos after our little sister left the living room. All my brothers started asking me questions I did not know the answers to. I felt lively when I got a call from the police station about my baby sister being found. I felt like I reconnected to a piece of my past that’s always been a part of me but has been out of reach for a long time.
However, my elation didn’t last long. When I saw my baby sister at the police station after so many years, I saw something in her eyes that I never thought I would see. Her eyes were like empty mirrors. There were no emotions in her eyes. What surprises me the most is that she wears contact lenses now. Her velvety eyes hidden from the world; reason only known to her.
Another emotion of anger bubbled inside my chest when I saw her in handcuffs. How dare those officers put my baby sister under handcuffs. I really need to have a serious talk with their superiors.
“Why her name has been changed?” Reuben asked.
“I don’t know. But her name on official papers is the same, Athaliah Kensington.” I replied feeling a headache emerging on the back of my head.
I don’t know why she changed her name, but I have an unsettling feeling that it is not normal.
“Is she really not going to forgive us? We just sent her to a boarding school for a few years until she ran from there.” Ezekiel voiced out his thoughts.
“You know what, Ezekiel is right. She is not going to forgive us if we stay as hostile to her as one or two of our brothers are with her.” Kaelen said.
“I don’t know why we need her to forgive us? We did not do anything. She was the one who killed the most precious person of our life.” Reuben said irritated by the whole fiasco.
“She was seven. Do you still believe a sever year old could kill her own mother?” His twin counter questioned.
“Yes, because I was the one who discovered our mother laying in her own blood after she was stabbed by her daughter. And the same daughter was standing beside her with a fucking knife in her hands.”
“Reuben, let me remind you none of us was present there when that happened. And not to forget there was an attack on our house. What happened in that room is unknown to everyone except our sister.” Ezekiel interjected.
“Are you forgetting that dad was also there, and he told us that there was no one in the room beside our mother and Athaliah.”
Their banter continued but I zoned out halfway. I could not believe that my baby sister killed someone let alone our own mother. Our mother was very protective of Athaliah. Although she loved all her children equally, her love for her only daughter was intense. It was like she was protecting Athaliah from something.
“Did you get any information on why she ran away from the boarding school?” Zephyrus asked, speaking for the second time since our sister came home. He is observant and most of the things he concludes after observing are always correct.
“Not yet.” I have my men finding my sister since the news of her running from the boarding school was disclosed to us. However, there were no traces of her anywhere. Now I know why. She changed her name. She didn’t want to be found.
“Okay that’s enough. There would be no conversation on this topic any further. We are still unsure about who killed our mother because she was attacked in the hospital as well. Now, our sister is back after so long, it will better for everyone to keep the past aside and be civil with her.” I said authoritatively.
I don’t know what happened eleven years ago but one thing I am sure of is that my sister did not kill our mother. I was a fool to let my father manipulate me into thinking otherwise and let my sister go far away from us. From me. And now that is going to change. I will shower my sister with all the things that she was deprived of for eleven years. Starting from showing her that she has a family now.
